Setting up a Facebook Pixel

Have you ever been shopping on a website and then noticed a minute later that same product you were looking at is now showing up as an ad on your Facebook page? This is not the power of magic – this is the work of a Facebook pixel!

Before you start advertising with Facebook a pixel should the very first thing that you set up on your website so that you can have ads that retarget those visitors. It is fairly easy to set this up…

How to set up a Facebook pixel in WordPress:

1: Login to Facebook
2: Go to your ad manager
3: Click on set up
4: Choose manually install the code yourself
5: Copy the pixel code and add just before your </head> tag (if you don’t know how to do this, ask your designer). Most themes have an easy way to place this site-wide.
6: Install Event Codes if desired – This article explains this well.
7: Check your pixel status – it should say active if it has been installed correctly (it can take up to 20 minutes)

How to Create Audience

1. Go to your ad manager
2. Click on Create Audience
3. Choose one of the options (i.e. anyone who has visited your site in last 30 days).
4. Name the audience and save it
